2001 Staff

Jeffery B. Edom Jeffery B. Edom, Associate Director of Bands
Jeffrey B. Edom, Associate Director of Bands at CSUS has been Director of the Sacramento State Athletic Bands since 1996. His spirited attitude of college marching bands grew the scrawny 30 piece Marching Musicians to the NCAA Division I class Sacramento State Marching Band that entertains Hundreds of thousands of people per season. Prior to joining the faculty at CSUS Edom taught public schools in El Paso, TX and Springfield, OR. Mr. Edom holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Oregon and a Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting from New Mexico State University. While at New Mexico State, he served as Staff Arranger and Assistant Director of the "Pride of New Mexico State" Marching Band and the "Roadrunner Revue" Basketball Band. Jeffery is also an active arranger and drill writer for marching band, writing custom arrangements for high schools and colleges throughout the West.

Brian Aguilar, Percussion Arranger/Instructor
Mr. Aguilar is entering his fith fall as the arranger and head instructor of the Percussion Section of our band. He began working with Sacramento State in January 1997 when he co-founded the now popular Winter Percussion Program. In addition, Mr. Aguilar is the Pit Instructor for the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps and the Arranger/Instructor for Fairfield High's Scarlet Brigade percussion section. Past affiliations include Sacramento High School, Antioch High School, Valley High School, Bridgewater-Raritan High School, Beaverton High School, Ygnacio Valley High School, and the Sacramento Youth Band. Mr. Aguilar recieved his music education here at Sacramento State where he studied percussion under Dr. Daniel Kennedy.

Allison C. Brown, Color Guard Instructor
This is Allison's first year instructing at Sacramento State and we are very excited to have her as a part of our staff. She has been teaching since 1984 for every level of Color Guard from High School to Senior Drum Corps. She even had a few titles under her belt from her work with the Empire Statesmen (Rochester, NY) who were the Senior Drum Corps World Champions in 1991, 1994, 1997, and 1998. The Statesmen were also named the DCA Corps of the Decade for the 90's.

John Zarco, Percussion Instructor
This is Mr. Zarco's first season as an instructor for the Sacramento State Percussion Section. He was the section leader in the fall of 1999. He has arranged for an instructed several high school percussion programs including Benicia High School, Merced High School, Granite Bay High School, and Vallejo High School. Last fall Mr. Zarco attended CSU Fresno where he studied percussion under Dr. Matthew Darling. He was also a member of the Fresno State wind ensemble and Bulldog Marching Band. Currently John is pursuing his B.M in Music Education at Sacramento State where his major professors are Dr. Robert Halseth and Dr. Daniel Kennedy.
